  • Traditional medicine is slowly gaining its rise in the last quarter of the 21st century due to its many benefits and long term results. Traditional medicine has for a long time been the underdog of the medicine industry due to the fact that it was not regarded as organised medicine. It is also has not been pushed to the background as mainstream medicine industry has sophisticated technology of manufacturing, packaging and distributing large quantities of medication at a short space of time, however this has not replaced the effectiveness of the traditional medicine. While this may not be pleasing to many modern science medicine pharmacists and the conventional medicine industry at large, the reality is traditional medicine is becoming more popular and here is why:

The benefits of traditional medicine

Traditional medicine does not have to be manufactured, as it is ever ready for usage. It should however be packaged and be prepared by the consumer following instructions with little effort to get it ready for use varying from different types. Traditional or natural herbal medication as it is popularly known, has been recorded to have little or no side effects on patients, the obvious reason is that it is compatible with the human body as it is natural interacting with natural substances.

Unlike modern science medicine, traditional medicine does not have side effects that lead to other diseases causing the patient to go back and buy another medication to eliminate the illness caused by the side effects from the first medication only to discover that the second one would also have its side effects which would need to be eliminated by another medication with its side effects leading to a vicious cycle. Traditional medicine is a one size fits all which makes it less complicated while with modern science medication, the prescription depends on the individual patient compatibility.

Rediscovery of traditional medicinal herbs

More and more traditional medicine is being rediscovered and brought to light for their various benefits and mostly because of their permanent healing nature. Sutherlandia also known a frutescens or cancerbush is amongst one of the medicinal herbs gaining popularity because of its health benefits. The frutescens is a shrub type plant which originally grows in the western cape province of South Africa. Garden Plants has a perfect video showing frutescens for better identification.

A well known traditional healer, Dr Credo Mutwa has been prescribing this herb to his patients and highly commends it. It is also called a wonder herb because it boosts the immune system and diminishes various symptoms of various diseases such as high blood pressure, heart disease, depression, weight disorders, cancer, diabetes among others. The above mentioned diseases are very difficult, almost impossible to cure, however with the dosage of Sutherlandia/Cancerbush, the symptoms disappear permanently. The cure and disappearance of the symptoms may vary according to their intensity and the type of disease.
